BTTR (pronounced “better” for “back to the roots”) ventures, formed by Alejandro Velez and Nikhil Arora, two innovative and passionate 2009 graduates of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, is turning one of the largest waste streams in America, used coffee grounds, into a valuable food product- specialty mushrooms. Their zero-waste, closed production enterprise also happens to provide “green-collar” urban jobs and a boost to local community farms, all the while changing the world for the “BTTR”. Check them out at www.bttrventures.com, and ask for their specialty mushrooms at your local Whole Foods market.
